Categories: Pasta , Gragnano PGO
Bucatini is a thick spaghetti-like pasta with a hole in the center. The name comes from the Italian word 'buco' meaning hole.
The most iconic way to eat bucatini pasta is Bucatini Amatriciana. I am sure you have heard of it before. Did you know it's a symbol of Rome?

Bucatini Amatriciana story
Apparently, it was a woman in Rieti (a town not to far from Rome) that first made the bucatini amatriciana pasta for her fellow villagers. The original recipe was a simpler than as we know it today but still managed to win the hearts and taste buds of everyone who taste it, so much so that they heard about it in Rome. And the rest, as they say, it's history.
How to cook Bucatini Pasta
1. Bucatini pasta with anchovies & breadcrumbs
2. Bucatini pasta with a pink sauce
3. Bucatini pasta with mushrooms
Bucatini is also delicious with meat sauces and ragù, especially as the sauce can get inside the bucatini pasta hole.
Carmel says:
Got my order today. Delighted to get their buccatini again, my fav pasta. So hard to find elsewhere.
What makes our Bucatini better?
Bucatini, like all Taste with Gusto Pasta, is made following the slow-drying process. This is an artisan method that allows pasta to dry for several hours and at low temperatures. It allows the pasta to retain the colour, scent, and taste of the wheat. The result is a pasta that tastes good on its own and retains a beautiful rough and aldente texture after cooking.
Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil, add salt and the pasta. Cook the pasta, drain and dress with one of our delicious sauces or pesto's. Cooking time: 12-15 mins.
